Privacy
You can use this site without telling us who you are. There is no account, we set no cookies, and we never ask why you need flexibility.
Who we are
Flex Codes UK (flexcodes.co.uk) is a trading name of Canol Ltd. For anything about privacy, contact us at hello@canol.co.uk.
What stays with you
- Names, job titles and organisation names you type are used in your browser to build your profile or role statement. They are not sent to us.
- Job advert text you paste is checked in your browser. It is not sent to us.
- Your personal flex code is remembered by your browser, on your device, so you can come back to it. You can remove it by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
What we count
To see how the site is used, we keep anonymous counts. Each record holds:
- the time, and which screen was reached or which feature was used, such as downloading a PDF or copying a link
- any personal flex code or role flex code that was created or compared, and the result of the comparison
- the name of the website that linked to us, such as linkedin.com, and any campaign tag in the link
- if the “Help me choose” guide was used, which level it suggested and whether that suggestion was used. Your yes or no answers are not sent
- whether the device was a phone, a tablet or a computer
Each record carries a random number that lasts only until the page is closed or reloaded. It is not stored on your device, so we cannot link two visits or recognise you when you return. We do not store IP addresses or browser details, and a code on its own does not identify anyone.
Counting is switched off if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
We keep these counts with no set end date, so we can see how use changes over time.
When you share a code
A link, QR code or PDF you share carries the code and any name, role, job title or organisation you added. Anyone you give it to can see those details, so share it only with people you choose.
In a link, those details sit after the # symbol, which browsers do not send to our server.
Other companies involved
- Netlify hosts the site and stores the anonymous counts. Like any web host, it handles your device’s IP address to deliver the pages and to guard against misuse.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. Your browser fetches them from Google, which receives your IP address and browser details.
- cdnjs, run by Cloudflare, supplies the tool that builds the PDF downloads. Your browser fetches it from Cloudflare in the same way.
We use no advertising or social media trackers, and no analytics other than the anonymous counts described above.
Your rights
UK data protection law gives you rights over personal information held about you. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there are no records about you for us to find, correct or delete. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply.
If you are unhappy with how we handle information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If the way the site works changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
