Life doesn’t come in a standard shape. Work shouldn’t have to either.

School runs and hospital appointments. Caring for someone. A body that doesn’t always cooperate at nine in the morning. None of that fits neatly into Monday to Friday, nine to five.

Your flex code puts what you need from a job into four numbers, so you can see whether a role could work before you apply.

How it works

  1. Answer four short questions When you work, how many hours, where, and how much notice you need.
  2. Create your flex code A 4-digit code that’s yours to keep and share.
  3. Use it Check job adverts or your current role, or share a profile of what you need.

Takes about 5 minutes.

What your flex code does for you

See if a job fits before you apply

Paste in a job advert, or enter the employer’s role flex code. You see, part by part, where the job meets what you need and where it falls short.

Say what you need, never why

Your code covers working arrangements only. We never ask for reasons, and your code doesn’t give any away.

Know what to ask

Where a job falls short, or the advert doesn’t say, you get a ready-made question to ask the employer.

What a flex code looks like

Example personal flex code 2 3 4 2

Working pattern An agreed regular pattern, such as fixed early finishes or compressed hours Level 2
Total hours Stable part-time hours Level 3
Location No regular on-site attendance Level 4
Schedule Your schedule set in advance, with a set notice period Level 2

Each number is a minimum, not a preference. Any job at or above that level would work for you.

How to use your code

  • Check jobs before you apply Paste the advert text and we pick out the working arrangements. It works even if the employer has never heard of flex codes.
  • Add it to your CV, cover letter or email signature Download your badge. It links to a page that explains what you need, never why.
  • Share it with an employer, adviser or support worker Send a link or QR code, or download your profile as a PDF. You can add your name if you want to.
  • Check your current job Describe your role as far as you know, and see which parts to raise with your manager.

Your code is saved in your browser, so you can come back to it and use it for any role. It isn’t a formal flexible working request. It’s a clear place to start the conversation.

Free. No account needed. Takes about 5 minutes.
